She shows up with a bag of hand samples, actual fabric and stone you can touch, because she doesn't think anyone should have to imagine what a finish will feel like before they commit to it. It's a small habit, but it tells you a lot about how she works.
Crystal didn't start out in interior design. She spent her early career in fashion, and when that chapter ended, she found herself working at a fabric store while she figured out what came next. Clients started asking for her eye before she'd ever called herself a designer. She eventually went back and earned her certificate to put a name on what she already knew, but the real education—the color instincts and the fabric sense—came from those years before the title existed.
The CP Interiors Approach
She's been running CP Interiors on Long Island for close to twenty years now, ever since she left Queens behind.
Every project starts the same way: bring her in early, before the finishes are locked and the mistakes are already poured into concrete. She'll sit alongside your architect and soften the technical drawings into something that actually feels like a home.
When it comes time for contractors, she doesn't hand you a list and wish you luck—she brings people she already trusts, people who know how she works. Because as she puts it, designers and contractors can turn adversarial fast, and skipping that fight is worth something on its own.
Worth knowing if you're mid-renovation and starting to second-guess every decision: Crystal takes you from the architect's first sketch all the way to the pillow on the couch, and she means that literally. She's not handing off the project at the halfway point. She's there for the part where you're exhausted and unsure, which is usually the part that matters most.
At this stage, decades of word of mouth have built a client list that stretches across the island—the Hamptons, the North Shore, the South Shore. These days she's just as likely to be found on Instagram, but the referrals still do most of the talking.
